El Dorado 21 Year Special Reserve Rum 70cl

This glorious full bodied rum from El Dorado was launched in late 2002 and has been aged for 21 years. It is full bodied with exquisite taste and character, blended from hand selected aged rums being at least 21 years old with some being aged up to 25 years. These rums are all chosen by the master distiller with each rum being from either the Enmore wooden Coffey still, the Versailles single wooden pot still and the Albion Savalle still. The rums are matured in 45 gallon oak casks in an ideal natural climate for ageing rums, within six degrees of the equator on the tropical north coast of South America.

When the 21 year old was first created it was reviewed at the Beverage Tasting Institute of Chicago and they summed it up with this statement. “A monumental aged rum that is one of the world’s greatest rum drinking experiences”

On the nose there is a degree of complexity with lush tropical fruit and spice with hints of honey and dark sugar. The first sip provides a warming sensation yet silky with a full bodied rich mouth feel. On the palate it is round and mellow with rich flavours of fruit and spice.
