Laphroaig is a world class distillery located on Islay, the home of peated whisky. Dating back to 1815, the history of Laphroaig is a tale of conflicts, redemption and triumphs. However, it wasn't until 1921 when Ian Hunter took over the distillery did Laphroaig become famed for its much-loved oily and peaty whisky. The rest, they say, is history.

The bold taste of islay

At Laphroaig, we celebrate our unique character through the flavour of our whisky. Everything we do is inspired by our home, Islay. From the distinctive peat which gives us our unique smoky character, to the uncompromised conviction of our people, making Laphroaig unmistakable.

A WHISKY LESS ORDINARY
THERE'S WHISKY. AND THEN THERE'S LAPHROAIG.
THERE'S ONLY ONE LAPHROAIG

On the far edge of the Scotch whisky map, it’s supposed that the art of distillation was first brought to Islay by Irish monks. Being remote, it’s an art that flourished in the hands of the islanders. The Laphroaig Distillery is perched on the shore, exposed to all the elements the Hebridean Sea can throw at it. Our cherished Kilbride Stream is right beside us. And so is the rich Islay peatland we’ve been infusing into our whisky for over 200 years. Visit the Laphroaig Distillery to explore, taste and feel it all by yourself.
