James Pimm created the No.1 Cup in 1823 to serve at his oyster bar in London's financial district, near the Bank of England. A secret mix of liqueurs and herbs with a gin base, it proved popular served in a tankard, known as a No.1 Cup. Pimm began producing the drink on a larger scale in 1851, because customers in other bars had been demanding it, and a great drink was born.
Today Pimm's No.1 is served at classic British sporting venues such as Wimbledon and Lord's cricket ground, but its great name and flavour has spread far and wide. The tag line ‘Pimm's O'Clock' was launched in the early 20th century and originally only spoke to the British expats and the British Empire, but today it entices many people around the world to get together and share a delicious Pimm's No.1 Classic mixed drink.
No barbecue or party would be complete without Pimm's, served up in generous pitchers, with Pimm's and lemonade forming the base. And now there's new Pimm's Blackberry and Elderflower too, mixing the flavour of the British hedgerow with the great taste of Pimm's No.6 Vodka Cup. Serve with lemonade and a fresh blackberry garnish for a delicious end-of-summer drink that's great at any time. And for when the temperature drops, there's Pimm's Winter, a great drink that provides your party with spice and flavour when you want to move good times indoors.
