Yellow Spot Irish Whiskey has been re-introduced to the market and joins its younger brother, Green Spot. It gets its name from an old technique used in the Mitchell & Son warehouse, where coloured spots would be painted on the end of maturation cask during storage to identify the age of the casks, yellow indicated 12 years old.
Yellow Spot contains single pot still whiskey that has been matured for 12 years in three different oak cask types: the first being American Bourbon barrels, then Spanish Sherry butts before finally and rather uniquely being added to Spanish Malaga casks, which adds an exotic fruity note to the whiskey.
