The Lindeman’s Bin 50 series wines are made with fruit sourced from key grape-growing areas around Australia. This ability of source and blend wines from these regions produces wine of a consistently outstanding quality with every vintage. The vintage of the bin 50 experienced some unusual weather conditions. Having a below average winter rainfall and then an above average dry spring, which eventually ended with a cool and damp November and December. This increased sub-soil moister with lead to more nutrients in the soil for the grapes to feed. After 6 months maturation in American oak casks, the result was a deep dark maroon red colour with a clean texture making this a very interesting wine to taste. The aroma is of red berries, plums, spice and a little vanilla scent make the smell very soft. On the palate we get a ripe generous blackberry fruit, accompanied by a cracked black pepper for the finish and just a kiss of oak.
