In 1796 William Perry opened the doors of his wine merchant in Bristol. His main wines were imported from Spain and Portugal. In 1860 John and Edward Harvey were creating a new sherry and invited a woman to come and sample the new mixture called Bristol milk. Upon tasting the new mix said mentioned that the mixture was too creamy to be milk and then Harveys Bristol Cream was invented. In 1895 Harveys was given a royal warrant as sole provider of wine to the royal family, Queen Victoria at the time, and continued to do this until 2008 when it was changed to Sherrie supplier. In 1994 Harveys Bristol Cream was repackaged in the iconic Bristol Blue bottle. To date Harveys Bristol Cream continues to be the market leader in the U.K.
