The word Mezcal means ‘oven cooked agave’ and comes from the distillation of the maguey plant. The drink came about through an experimentation with this plant which ends with a smoky flavour and is usually consumed neat in Mexico.

Tequila is a specific and regulated form of mezcal, but made solely from one particular type of blue agave plant in Mexico. Tequila comes in a variety of ages, from the Blanco (unaged), Reposado (rested), Anejo(Aged) to the Extra Anejo which is aged for a longer period.
