The legend of Ginger Joe is inspired by ‘ginger’ Joseph stone. He was a London greengrocer and the founder of the illustrious noble house of stone. It was in 1740 that Ginger Joe produced his first batch of ginger beer and he described it as ‘a tipple that literally singed the tips of his tache. This image has now been immortalised on every bottle of the refreshing feisty alcoholic ginger beer.
Legend has it that Joe was a fanatic about the tantalising taste of the ginger root and this is what made him want to create a real ginger beer.
