Grants Ale Cask Finish is the only Scotch Whisky to be finished off in Casks That previously held ale. Finishing is the additional time that a whisky will spend in specially selected casks after it has been matured, in order to pick up further complexity and flavours.
Brian Kinsman, who is the master blender at Grants, fills up oak casks with Edinbough Ale for 30 days and then replaces it with aged Grants whisky for it to take in the flavour from the Ale. He leaves the Grants whisky in the Ale casks for four months, in order for it to pick up its unique crème brulee creaminess and silky malt flavours.
