More Information
Glenmorangie Finealta is the second released in the Private Edition range by Glenmorangie, the first being the hugely popular Glenmorangie Sonnalta. Carefully selected, limited edition whiskies chosen from the ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ of Dr Bill Lumsden, Head of the Whisky Creation Team and Glenmorangie.
Finealta is a recreation of a recipe dating back to 1903 and the name Finealta comes from the Gaelic word for elegance. Matured in a combination of American white oak casks and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, this whisky is unusual for its light touch of peatiness, which is reminiscent of the times when Glenmorangie dried its barley in a peat fired kiln. It was at this time when Glenmorangies Single Malt was being served at the Savoy in London.
The colour of this whisky is seductive deep amber, which compliments the aromas of Caramelised orange and peaches soaked in liqueur followed by sugared peeled almonds, raisins, lime and a hint of distant woodsmoke. On the palate bursting flavours of mandarin, marmalade and hints of cherry brandy combine with the spiciness of nutmeg and ginger before icing sugar, chewy meringue and violet build up slowly. These entire flavours compliment a full, rounded finish with an aromatic smoke and subtle layers of powdery floral scents.
