Fonseca Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) is aged to full maturity in oak vats of 50 pipes capacity. To ensure that the port doesn’t lose any of its flavour, it is drawn off into the bottle with no fining or filtration. This keeps the ports richness and concentration, preserving all of its natural fullness of body and flavour. As the port is kept unfiltered, it may form sediments in the bottle after a year of two if the port is subject to the cold. It is completely natural and if it does occur, it should be decanted.
On the nose it has great intensity of fruit with pungent fresh plum and jam aromas. On the palate you are bombarded with fruit flavours of strong fresh raspberry, cherry and black plum. It keeps a good structure which gives a long flavoursome finish.
