Germana

Sergio Caetano also known as "mascate", was the founder of cachaça Germana and started producing cachaça on his farm following his father footsteps, making it for themselves and their neighbours to enjoy. The name Germana was chosen by their family because of a religious phenomenon that happened on XIX century when a nun named Germana helped people with medicines made with cachaça and herbs.Coincidentally, the word "germana" also means "something not blended, pure, genuine", consolidating the name for the drink. A Brazilian speciality, the cachaça is aged for two years in oak barrels, before being bottled, with each bottle traditionally wrapped in dried banana leaves, to protect it from the light
