Bell larger is named after Port Bell Pier where the brewery is located 10km from Kampala city, Uganda. The Pier was named after the Colonial Governor of Uganda Sir Hesketh Bell who was in charge from 1905 to 1909.
Bell larger was made in 1950 and is the oldest beer brand in Uganda. It is Uganda Breweries Ltd flagship brand and is the number one premium larger in Uganda in terms of image and market share. It equates to 30% of Uganda’s beer market.
Being brewed right next to the pier, means that Bell larger can benefit from the freshest ingredient from the malt barley used to the superior German hops and water which provides the smooth refreshing lighter taste that is enjoyed throughout Uganda. It was the first beer in Uganda to win a gold medal in the international monde selection Quality award in 1992 and since then has won many more.
