The Irish cream was introduced in 1974 and the brand name Baileys was based on the London hotel. A combination of Irish whiskey and cream are infused together to create a silky velvety liquor. The cream used in Baileys is delivered daily in insulated tankers and processed on the day it arrives and the whiskey is a triple pot still blend, made to a proprietary specification. The sugar comes from sugar cane and beet with the distinct style of Baileys being derived from a unique proprietary cocoa extract recipe giving Baileys its chocolate character and essence.
