More Information
Considered South Africa's success story, Amarula is an exotic cream liqueur made using succulent marula fruit and fresh dairy cream giving a creamy, nutty taste with vanilla, citrus and gentle spice notes and hints of coffee. First produced in 1989, Amarula is South Africa's most widely distributed alcoholic drink. Marula trees grow in the South African wild, allowing the marula fruit to ripen under the African sun to give Amarula its unique taste. The sweet, delicious, concentrated flavour of marula fruit hand-harvested and distilled twice in the form of marula wine to retain the fresh fruity flavours. To deepen the marula flavour, the marula wine ages in small oak barrels allowing the hints of vanilla and toast to become more pronounced. It is then blended with cream to give Amarula its rich and smooth consistency. Amarula is best enjoyed on its own, poured over ice, added to cocktails or even as an ingredient in desserts.
