The ‘Sailor Jerry’ brand got its name from Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins, a seaman that got famous for his ability to create art by tattooing. His spiced rum came about because when sailors go to sea, they use to get their rations of rum and blend their own spices to create their own spiced rum, and this is how Norman Collins created his famous rum. Some changes to the older version of Sailor Jerry. The taste is less sweet, allowing the vanilla and natural spices to come through and the label now has a Hula Girl centre stage. The rum is blended with the natural essence from the spices, vanilla and lime, and reduced to the bottling strength of 40%ABV. Best served over ice with cola or ginger beer and a squeeze of fresh lime.
