In 1878, Frederick Stowells first established his London wine merchants. Over 130 years later they are proud to continue his traditions with industry experts who scourers the globe in search of delicious, fruit filled wines that are made for your enjoyment – Bringing you a little discovery in every glass. In 1927 Frederick Stowells business moved to Chelsea and became known as Stowells of Chelsea. In 1974 Stowells of Chelsea were given the Royal Warrant to supply wine to HM Elizabeth the Queen Mother. 1981 was a great year for Stowells, they launched the first ever wine in a box and quickly became the UK’s number one wine brand. In 1983 Stowells got innovative and were the first wine brand to launch the revolutionary bar dispenser, which was followed by more innovation as in 1999 Stowells introduced 75cl bottles for its wine. 2011 was risky but fruitful year for Stowells as they revitalised their look and still remained the No.1 on trade wine brand.
